The 7th Tradition (long form)

"The A.A. groups themselves ought to be fully supported by the voluntary contributions of their own members. We think that each group should soon achieve this ideal; that any public solicitation of funds using the name of Alcoholics Anonymous is highly dangerous, whether by groups, clubs hospitals, or other outside agencies; that acceptance of large gifts from any source, or the contributions carrying any obligation whatever, is unwise. Then, too, we view with much concern those A.A. treasuries which continue, beyond prudent reserves, to accumulate funds for no stated A.A. purpose. So where do our contributions go?
At the group level, rent for the meeting room, and coffee supplies are the obvious use of our contributions. A.A. chips, literature, and other minor expenses must be covered. What might remain after a prudent reserve, should be donated to A.A. Districts, Area committees, the General Service Office, etc., as the group sees fit. Your group treasurer should be able to give an accounting frequently. At the bottom of this page are the addresses of where to send the money.
Most excess funds will probably go the the District committee, which is the next link in the A.A. Organization.
